Description:

2,4-Difluoro-1-iodobenzene is a diode laser fluorination reagent that has been shown to be effective for the synthesis of α,β-unsaturated esters. The compound absorbs radiation in the ultraviolet region and is excited by a diode laser. The absorption spectra of 2,4-difluoro-1-iodobenzene show a strong peak at 290 nm with an extinction coefficient of 1.6 × 10 cm M−1. This compound is also used as an experimental tool for studying the reactions of pyrrole with butyllithium and other heterocycles.
2,4-Difluoro-1-iodobenzene is also used to study radical species in organic chemistry and can be used to synthesize heterocycles.
