Product Information
- 2,4-Dimethoxyprimidine
2,4-Dimethoxypyrimidine is a pyrimidine compound with two asymmetric carbon atoms. It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in organic solvents and is insoluble in water. 2,4-Dimethoxypyrimidine can be synthesized by the palladium-catalyzed coupling of an aromatic hydrocarbon with a sugar residue. The reaction solution will contain chloride ions, which are removed by adding an organic solution containing hydrogen chloride or nitro groups. Removal of chloride ions produces the desired product. 2,4-Dimethoxypyrimidine has been shown to have properties that make it suitable for use as a growth regulator and has been used in experiments on plant chlorophyll content and protein synthesis.
2,4-Dimethoxypyrimidine exhibits optical activity due to its chiral nature, which can be observed using nmr spectra.
