Description:

It binds to the hydroxyl group of hemoglobin and prevents it from binding with oxygen. 3,3'-Dihydroxy-2,2'-bipyridine also binds to the cell membrane and enters the cell where it forms a cavity with a chelate ring. The molecule has been shown to have high photophysical properties and can be used in biological studies.
