Product Information

Name:
3,4-Dihydro-6,7-isoquinolinediol
Synonyms:
  • 6,7-Isoquinolinediol,3,4-dihydro-
Description:

3,4-Dihydro-6,7-isoquinolinediol is an inhibitor of tumor cell growth. It has been shown to inhibit tumor cell growth when tested in vitro and in vivo. This compound has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells and cause apoptosis by interfering with protein synthesis. 3,4-Dihydro-6,7-isoquinolinediol binds to a specific site on the ribosome, which prevents the addition of amino acids to a growing polypeptide chain. This process leads to inhibition of protein synthesis and ultimately cellular death. The fluorophore that is present on 3,4-dihydro-6,7-isoquinolinediol inhibits tumor cell growth by binding to DNA and RNA polymerase enzymes.
3,4-Dihydro-6,7-isoquinolinediol is also used as a biochemical probe for studying the structure and function of proteins in solution.
