Description:2,5-Dimethylthiazole is a chemical compound that has been synthesized and tested for its antifungal effects. It was found to have potent antifungal activity against T. rubrum at concentrations of 1-2 mg/mL. A study in humans showed that 2,5-Dimethylthiazole had no cytotoxicity or genotoxicity at doses up to 1000 mg/kg body weight. This drug also has an interaction with telomeres, which may be due to the inhibition of the enzyme DNA polymerase γ, preventing the synthesis of telomeric DNA repeats by inhibiting the addition of nucleotides to the 3' end of dsDNA.
