The 2,5-Dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl acrylate is a chiral compound that has been used in clinical relevance studies. It is a synthetic compound that can be used to study the mechanism of action of growth factors and their receptors in heart tissue. This chemical can also be used as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primer. The 2,5-Dioxopyrrolidin-1-yl acrylate reacts with lysine residues on DNA during PCR, causing the DNA to undergo a phase transition from B form to A form. This chemical is a reactive molecule that binds with ethylene diamine to form an adduct that can be detected by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
