Product Information

Name:
2,4-Dichloropteridine
Synonyms:
  • Pteridine, 2,4-Dichloro-
Description:

2,4-Dichloropteridine is a soybean lipoxygenase inhibitor. Soybean lipoxygenase is responsible for the production of lipid peroxides and has been implicated in the development of autoimmune diseases. 2,4-Dichloropteridine has antioxidant properties that can inhibit lipid peroxide formation and protect cells from oxidative damage. This drug has also been shown to have a protective effect against atherosclerosis by inhibiting reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. Additionally, 2,4-Dichloropteridine has anti-inflammatory properties that are mediated through inhibition of lipoxygenases. This drug may be used as a treatment for colitis or other inflammatory disorders and may be useful in cancer prevention or treatment because it inhibits the growth of certain types of cancer cells.
