It can also be used as an intermediate for the synthesis of methacrylic acid, methyl acetate, and other organic compounds. 2-(Dimethylamino)acetaldehyde sulfite can be synthesized using a high-yield synthetic method involving lithium, acidification, and an organic solvent.
