Dimethylmangostin (DM) is a natural compound that belongs to the group of compounds called "subtilins". It is a white crystalline powder and has been shown to have anticancer properties. DM inhibits cancer cell growth by inducing apoptosis. The anti-cancer effect may be due to its ability to inhibit cellular replication through the inhibition of DNA synthesis, RNA synthesis, and protein synthesis. DM also has antioxidant properties that may be due to its ability to scavenge free radicals and react with hydrochloric acid.
