Product Information
2,3-Dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-amine is a glutathione antioxidant that prevents oxidative damage to the nervous system by scavenging free radicals. It has been shown to have antioxidative activity in animal and cellular models. 2,3-Dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-amine can be used as a treatment for neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The compound has also been found to have antiinflammatory properties and may be useful in treating inflammatory diseases such as arthritis. 2,3-Dihydro-1-benzofuran-5-amine is structurally related to glutathione and other antioxidants. It is synthesized from glutamic acid by an analogy of the enzyme glutamate dehydrogenase and reacts with oxygen radicals by electron transfer or electron spin resonance (ESR).
