Description:
4,5-Dihydro-3(2H)-thiophenone-1,1-dioxide is a pyridine derivative with a functional group that is used as an antiviral agent. It blocks the serine protease by binding to the active site of the enzyme and preventing it from functioning. 4,5-Dihydro-3(2H)-thiophenone-1,1-dioxide has a carbonyl group that can be used for catalysis and hydroxy groups that are important for hydrogen bonding. This compound also has quinoline derivatives that act as cyclic structures.
