• Description: 3,4-Dichlorophenylmethanamine (3,4-DCPM) is an amine that belongs to the class of anti-infective agents. It is a synthetic molecule that has been postulated to act as a potent inhibitor of protein kinases. 3,4-DCPM binds to the enzyme's active site and inhibits enzyme activity by competitive inhibition. In addition, this compound has been shown to inhibit benzylamine N-acetyltransferase with an IC50 value of 0.5 μM and acetylcholinesterase with an IC50 value of 0.2 μM. 3,4-DCPM also selectively binds to amines and forms hydrogen bonds with them. This drug also reacts with hydrochloric acid in order to form hydrogen chloride gas and hydrogen ions. 3,4-DCPM also forms constant intermolecular hydrogen bonds with affinity ligands such as diphenyl ethers or benzyl groups.
