    Description:N,N'-Disuccinimidyl carbonate, also known as DSC, is a coupling reagent used in the synthesis of amides, urea derivatives and carbamates, and is also used as a phosgene analogue. DSC can be employed in presence of Hünig’s base in the synthesis of cyclic sulphonyl peptides containing an oxazolidin-2-ones formed from serine and threonine residues. DSC is utilised in the synthesis aza-glycinyl dipeptides to be used as building blocks for the synthesis of azapeptides. DSC is used to activate amides in order to covalently attach proteins onto solid supports through unnatural amino acids, such as post-translationally modified cysteines containing moieties suitable for click chemistry or Staudinger ligation. DSC also finds application in the post-functionalisation of poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) polymer brushes.
