1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D2 is a vitamin that is synthesized from cholesterol in the skin and then metabolized to produce 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D2. It has been shown to have biological properties that may be useful as an immunosuppressant or anticancer agent. Vitamin D2 has been shown to reduce the growth of solid tumours in mice by inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells. The molecular weight of vitamin D2 is 358.4 g/mol, with a molecular formula C28H44O3.
