It has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in cell culture and to have antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. (3S,3aS,5R)-3,8-Dimethyl-5-prop-1-en-2-yl-1,2,3,3a,4,5,6,7 octahydroazulene has also been shown to inhibit the production of farnesyl diphosphate by inhibiting the enzyme farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase.
