Description:

2,5-Dibromothieno[3,2-b]thiophene is a synthetic polymer. It can be used to make devices such as electrochemical polymerization. The polymerization process is controlled by the redox potential of the substrate and it is dependent on the position of the substituents on the aromatic ring. 2,5-Dibromothieno[3,2-b]thiophene has been synthesized in a systematic manner by a Suzuki coupling reaction. This reaction proceeds via an initial nucleophilic addition to the alkyne followed by a double displacement reaction with two equivalents of bromine.
