Dicumyl peroxide is a reactive molecule that functions as a thermal and chemical oxidizer. It is used in the manufacture of medicines, resins, dyes, plastics and explosives. Dicumyl peroxide reacts with the dinucleotide phosphate to form a dimethyl fumarate polymer. This reaction is cell-specific and can be used for wastewater treatment by removing nitrogen atoms from water vapor. The reaction also produces peroxide and water vapor. The kinetic and reaction mechanism of dicumyl peroxide are still not well understood.
