Product Information
- 3(2H)-benzofuranone, 4,6-dihydroxy-
4,6-Dihydroxy-3(2H)-benzofuranone (DHBB) is a natural compound that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on hepatitis. DHBB has also been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro by affecting the cell cycle and inducing apoptosis. Studies have shown that DHBB can inhibit the replication of viruses such as Epstein-Barr virus and herpes simplex virus type 2. It has also been shown to inhibit the efflux pump activity of these viruses, which may be due to its acylation reaction with cellular proteins or membrane lipids. The mechanism of action for DHBB is not yet known but it is thought to be due to its ability to bind metal ions and affect the cell cycle. In addition, DHBB inhibits cell growth in vitro through a kinetic process.
