Product Information
Diglycerol phosphate is an intermediate in biological lipid metabolism. It is a solute that is formed by the reaction of two molecules of glycerol with one molecule of phosphoric acid. Diglycerol phosphate is also a component of pharmaceutical preparations, such as those used to treat neurodevelopmental disorders and dry weight loss in patients with skin conditions. This compound has been shown to be a competitive inhibitor of glutamate dehydrogenase, which catalyzes the conversion of glutamate into alpha-ketoglutarate. The inhibition observed may be due to its ability to bind to the active site of the enzyme and form a covalent bond with glutamate.
