Product Information
2,6-Dichloro-3-methylisonicotinic acid (2,6-DCI) is a synthetic compound that is structurally related to cinnamic acid. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the influenza virus in vitro and in vivo. 2,6-DCI blocks viral transcription by the polymerase chain reaction and inhibits the biosynthesis of viral RNA. It also functions as an anti-oxidant by scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS). This compound has been shown to have antiviral properties against other types of viruses such as herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1) and human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV1). 2,6-DCI has also been shown to inhibit cell proliferation in plant cells by blocking DNA replication.
