Disulfoton-sulfoxide is a pesticide that is used as an insecticide, acaricide, and nematicide. It has been found to be effective against Sclerotium rolfsii. Disulfoton-sulfoxide binds to the sulfhydryl groups in proteins and the disulfide bonds in DNA and RNA, inhibiting protein synthesis and DNA replication. The analytical method for this compound is gas chromatography with mass spectrometry detection (GC-MS). The reaction mechanism of this compound is the addition of hydrogen sulfoxide to disulfoton. This compound can be detected using a high-sensitivity C-reactive protein assay that detects the acetylcholinesterase inhibition by disulfoton-sulfoxide.
