Description:Disulfoton-sulfone is an insecticide that belongs to the group of carbamates. It acts as a systemic poison and is used in analytical methods for measuring multi-walled carbon particles. Disulfoton-sulfone has been shown to be cytotoxic to mammalian cells, but not to bacteria. It has also been shown to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, but not Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Bacillus subtilis. Disulfoton-sulfone can be metabolized by oxidation or hydrolysis in mammals. The main oxidation product is sulfoxide, which may cause food poisoning. The hydrolysis products are 2-mercaptopropionic acid and 3-mercaptopropionic acid, which have been shown to inhibit the growth of some organisms by inhibiting protein synthesis.END>>
