Product Information
- Tyrosine, 3,5-Dichloro-
- 3,5-Dichlorotyrosine
3,5-Dichloro-L-tyrosine is a chlorinating agent that has been used as an eosinophil peroxidase substrate in monoclonal antibody production. The enzyme catalyzes the oxidation of 3,5-dichloro-L-tyrosine to 3,5-dichloro-2,4,6-trimethylaniline and hydrogen peroxide. This reaction is dependent on the presence of atmospheric oxygen and several other factors. The chlorine atom in 3,5-dichloro-L-tyrosine reacts with proteins to form chloramines (chloramine A and chloramine B). These reactive compounds are responsible for the degradation of histones and other proteins found in cells. This compound can also be used as a sample preparation reagent for acid analysis or to react with diphenyl ethers.
