Description:

4,5-Difluoro-2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl triflate is an ether that is used for the synthesis of alkenes. It can be used in the synthesis of hydroxyketones, which are important in biomolecular chemistry and pharmaceutical research. 4,5-Difluoro-2-(trimethylsilyl)phenyl triflate can also be used to synthesize arynes and arylation products. This compound is activated with a Lewis acid catalyst and reacts with methide to form an ether linkage. The reaction must be carried out under an inert atmosphere in order to prevent oxidation by air. The product is obtained in high yield and with good functional group compatibility.
