Description:

1,3-Dibromo-2-methyl propane is a chiral organic compound with two asymmetric carbon atoms. The enantiopurity of 1,3-dibromo-2-methyl propane has been determined to be 99% ee. The yield of the reaction is also high, at 98%. It has been shown that the enzyme Dehalogenases can use 1,3-dibromo-2-methyl propane as a substrate. This reagent is used in cross coupling reactions to produce 1,1'-biphenyl compounds from dienes and bromides. It has been synthetically derived from an escherichia coli recombinant DNA expression system.
