Decamethyltetrasiloxane is made up of 10 silicon atoms and 4 methyl groups. It has a low viscosity and high solubility in water, making it suitable for use as a film-forming polymer. Decamethyltetrasiloxane can also be used in biological treatments such as the removal of nitrogen and phosphorous from wastewater by using glycol esters with reactive functional groups.
