    Product Information

    Name:O-Desmethyl adapalene
    Synonyms:
    • 6-(4-Hydroxy-3-tricyclo[3.3.1.13,7]dec-1-ylphenyl)-2-naphthalenecarboxylic acid6-[3-(1-Adamantyl)-4-hydroxyphenyl]-2-naphthalenecar boxylic acidAHPN
    Brand:Biosynth
Description:Adapalene is a synthetic retinoid that acts as an agonist for the RAR-β2 receptor and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Adapalene has been used to treat psoriasis, acne, and other autoimmune diseases. This drug is a topical medication that can be applied to skin to help prevent or reduce the severity of acne. Adapalene is also used in combination with other medications, such as tretinoin, hydroquinone, or benzoyl peroxide, to treat milder cases of acne. The mechanism of action of adapalene is not fully understood but it may exert its effects by binding to response elements in the promoter region of genes and preventing transcription. It has been shown that adapalene inhibits p21 protein expression which leads to apoptosis in cancer cells. It also alters mitochondrial membrane potential and causes DNA damage in prostate cancer cells by altering polyamine metabolism and inhibiting DNA polymerase activity.
