4,5-Diamino-6-chloropyrimidine is a glycosidic compound that has been used for the optimization of drug targets. It has been shown to have antimalarial activity against Plasmodium falciparum in vitro and in vivo. 4,5-Diamino-6-chloropyrimidine binds to the amine groups on nucleotides, specifically purines (adenine and guanine), and amidates the 6-chloropurine ring. This makes it a potential candidate for use in chemotherapy. The structure of 4,5-diamino-6-chloropyrimidine was determined by NMR and mass spectroscopy analysis.
