Brand:Biosynth
Description:Dibenz[a,j]acridine is a fluorescent probe that can be used to detect DNA damage. It was synthesized with the objective of detecting DNA damage in vivo and in vitro. Dibenz[a,j]acridine has been studied for its transport properties and synchronous fluorescence. This probe has been used to study the genotoxic effects of various chemical compounds on mammalian cells. The method is based on the ability of dibenz[a,j]acridine to bind to double-stranded DNA through hydroxyl groups at the 2' position of adjacent thymine bases. The binding of dibenz[a,j]acridine to DNA leads to an increase in fluorescence intensity due to energy transfer from the excited state of dibenz[a,j]acridine to a nearby molecule such as NADH or FADH2.
