Dibenz[b,e]oxepin-11(6H)-one is a chemical compound that has been isolated from the endophytic fungus Microsporum canis. The compound is a nucleophilic and has shown to have anthelmintic properties. Dibenz[b,e]oxepin-11(6H)-one was synthesized by reacting doxepin hydrochloride with hydrochloric acid in the presence of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP). It has been shown to inhibit MMP activity and chloride ion uptake in mammalian cells. Dibenz[b,e]oxepin-11(6H)-one also inhibits the growth of C. elegans mutant strain that lacks dihedral symmetry.
