Diethyl 2,2-diethoxethylphosphonate is a phosphonate that can be used as a catalyst in processes involving ethylene and pentane. It is also used as an intermediate for the production of other chemicals such as phosphites and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. Diethyl 2,2-diethoxethylphosphonate has been shown to be a second-order rate constant at temperatures between 0°C and 40°C. This compound has been shown to react with β-unsaturated aldehydes to form heterocycles.
