3,7-Dimethoxy-3',4',5-Trihydroxyflavone is a metabolite of flavonoids which has been found to have biological properties. It was found to inhibit the polymerase chain reaction and has been studied for its effects on coronary heart diseases. 3,7-Dimethoxy-3',4',5-Trihydroxyflavone inhibits the activity of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is an intermediate in the synthesis of catecholamines and other endogenous compounds. The compound has also been shown to be an antimicrobial agent against Acinetobacter baumannii and Staphylococcus aureus. This compound is also used as a reagent for analytical methods such as human serum sample preparation for determination of anion radical scavenging capacity.
