Brand:Biosynth
Description:(+)-O,O'-Di-p-toluoyl-D-tartaric acid is a potent and selective ligand for the dopamine D2 receptor. It was first synthesized in 1968 and has been extensively studied for its interactions with dopamine receptors. (+)-O,O'-Di-p-toluoyl-D-tartaric acid has been shown to be an orthosteric agonist at the D2 receptor, meaning it binds directly to the receptor in the absence of any other compounds. It binds to the extracellular site of the receptor, with a binding affinity that is 10 times more potent than that of apomorphine. The compound has been shown to have antidepressant effects when administered systemically, as well as in animal models of depression. This activity may be due to its ability to selectively activate dopamine D2 receptors in regions such as the prefrontal cortex.
