Product Information
- alpha-Bromo-2,5-dichlorotoluene
- 2-(Bromomethyl)-1,4-Dichloro-Benzene
2,5-Dichlorobenzyl bromide (2,5-DCB) is a triazole that has shown activity against a wide range of bacterial species. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of S. typhimurium and L. major in vitro assays. It is also effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other mycobacteria. 2,5-DCB inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and blocking peptide bond formation. The 2,5-DCB molecule also contains a chiral center which means that it can exist in two distinct forms: cis or trans. The trans form is more active than the cis form because it binds better to the target site on the ribosome.
