This compound has also been reported to be a reactive agent for the synthesis of organometallic compounds such as Grignard reagents. 3,4-Dimethyl-3,4-diphenylhexane is an acetylacetonate that can be prepared by oxidation of acetylene with hydrogen peroxide.
