3,4-Dimethyl-3,4-diphenylhexane is a phosphite that can be used as a stabilizer in organic solvents. It has also been shown to have exciplex formation and penetrant properties. 3,4-Dimethyl-3,4-diphenylhexane has been used for cross-linking polyolefins with peroxides to form thermoplastic elastomers. This compound has also been reported to be a reactive agent for the synthesis of organometallic compounds such as Grignard reagents. 3,4-Dimethyl-3,4-diphenylhexane is an acetylacetonate that can be prepared by oxidation of acetylene with hydrogen peroxide.
