Dammarenediol II is a dammarenediol glycoside that is formed by the dehydration of oleanonic acid. The dammarenediol II synthesis pathway has been elucidated and it was found that the enzyme involved in this process is a glycosyltransferase. Dammarenediol II has significant cytotoxicity against tumor cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit transcriptional regulation and protein synthesis. It also inhibits the polymerase chain reaction, which is an important signal pathway in cancer cells. This glycosidic bond can be used as an antimicrobial agent for bacterial strains such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, and Helicobacter pylori. Dammarenediol II can act as an antitumor agent by inhibiting transcriptional regulation and protein synthesis.
