    Description:N,N-Diethylnicotinamide is a nicotinamide derivative that is used as an anti-inflammatory agent. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes such as acetylcholinesterase, phospholipase A2, and cyclooxygenase. N,N-Diethylnicotinamide has a synergistic effect with pentobarbital sodium in inducing chronic pulmonary inflammation in rats. This drug also has an acid complexing effect on fatty acids and nitrogen atoms. The coordination geometry of this drug is octahedral with two nitrogen atoms coordinated to one metal ion. N,N-Diethylnicotinamide can be synthesized by reacting nicotinic acid with diethylamine in the presence of 1 equivalent of hydrogen gas.
