Product Information

Name:
2,5-Difluoro-4-nitrobenzoic acid
Synonyms:
  • 2,5-Difluoro-4-Nitrobenzenecarboxylic Acid
  • 2,5-Difluoro-4-Nitrobenzenecar
Description:

2,5-Difluoro-4-nitrobenzoic acid is a difluorinated analog of the anti-cancer drug 5-fluorouracil. It is a potent inhibitor of thymidylate synthase and inhibits DNA synthesis. 2,5-Difluoro-4-nitrobenzoic acid has been shown to be an antifolate by competing with folate for binding to the enzyme thymidylate synthase. This compound also binds to the spindle protein and inhibits mitosis. 2,5-Difluoro-4-nitrobenzoic acid has been used in assays to study the effect of fluorine substitution on biological activity and as an alkylating agent in chemical synthesis.
