2,4-Difluorobiphenyl is a synthetic chemical that is used in the synthesis of other chemicals. It is obtained by acetylation of biphenyl with acetic anhydride and acetic acid. The conversion of 2,4-difluorobiphenyl to other chemicals can be achieved by cross-coupling reactions such as the Friedel-Crafts reaction or the hydrogenation of 2,4-difluorobiphenyl to produce 2,5-difluorophenol. Synthesis of 2,4-difluorobiphenyl can also be achieved through a cross-coupling reaction between magnesium and copper salts with hydrogen peroxide and nitrite. An alternative method for synthesizing 2,4-difluorobiphenyl involves reacting biphenyl with trifluoroacetic acid or chloroacetic acid in the presence of magnesium chloride or zinc
