Product Information
2,4-Dimethoxybenzyl alcohol is a functional group that is used in organic synthesis. It can be synthesized from the reduction of 2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde with sodium borohydride or lithium aluminum hydride. The compound is used to synthesize hydroxamic acids and it has shown photocatalytic activity. 2,4-Dimethoxybenzyl alcohol is also used as an intermediate for the synthesis of octamers and trifluoroacetate esters. Other uses include its ability to induce chloride secretion by inhibiting the chloride ion channel in the cell membrane and its ability to inhibit quinoline derivatives such as indolocarbazoles. 2,4-Dimethoxybenzyl alcohol has been shown to have inhibitory activities against a number of biological targets including growth regulators and enzymes (i.e., stereoselective). 2,4-Dimethoxybenzyl alcohol has
