Description:Darexaban is a non-peptidic, small molecule that inhibits the enzyme glucuronide conjugate. It is used to prevent and treat thrombosis and thromboembolism in patients undergoing atrial or abdominal surgery. Darexaban has been shown to be effective in the treatment of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) by inhibiting the activation of platelets. The drug also has pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to those of heparin, such as a half-life of 5–7 hours. Darexaban also has anti-inflammatory effects, and can reduce autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis.
