Product Information
- alpha,3,5-Tribromotoluene
- 1,3-Dibromo-5-(bromomethyl)benzene
- Alpha,3,5-Tribromobenzyl Bromide
3,5-Dibromobenzyl bromide is a low molecular weight hydrophobic molecule that has been shown to inhibit the activity of allosteric modulators of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. It binds to amines and also has a high affinity for styrene and nitrogen atoms. The fluorescence lifetime of this compound is long, which suggests that it is not very soluble in water. 3,5-Dibromobenzyl bromide has been found to have an affinity for ligands with aldehyde groups and stannous octoate. The x-ray crystal structure of 3,5-dibromobenzyl bromide has revealed that it contains two benzene rings.
