1,2-Dibromobenzene is a chemical compound that contains one bromine atom and two carbon atoms. It is used to prepare diazonium salts with high reactivity, which are used in the synthesis of other chemicals. 1,2-Dibromobenzene has been shown to be reactive with copper chloride in a Suzuki coupling reaction. The activation energy for this reaction is low. 1,2-Dibromobenzene has also been shown to be an effective light emitter under certain conditions. In addition, it can be prepared by the palladium-catalyzed coupling of benzene and hydroxyl groups or by the chlorination of benzene.
