Description:16-DehydroprogesteroNe is a metabolite of progesterone that is produced by the enzyme hydrolysis. 16-DehydroprogesteroNe has been shown to inhibit cell growth and induce apoptosis in human breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231) and colon cancer cells (HCT116). It also has physiological activities that are similar to progesterone, including anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. 16-DehydroprogesteroNe can be produced from the metabolism of progesterone by the enzymes side chain cleavage or oxidative reactions with rifampin or rat liver microsomes.
