Dodecylheptaglycol is a detergent compound that is used to diagnose the effector proteins of the complement system. It has been shown to inhibit the hydrogen-bond forming process by binding to fatty acids, and it also prevents the reaction from occurring between sodium citrate and inorganic acid. Dodecylheptaglycol has been found to have long-term efficacy in vitro and has shown activity against tissue culture cells. This detergent is not absorbed well into the bloodstream, which may be due to its low bioavailability.
