4'-Demethylpodophyllotoxin is an analytical method that can be used to measure the concentration of podophyllotoxin in human monocytes. The expression plasmid containing the gene encoding for the enzyme cinnamic acid derivative hydroxylase, which converts cinnamic acid derivatives into 4'-demethylpodophyllotoxin, is introduced into human monocytes. The enzymatic reaction generates 4'-demethylpodophyllotoxin and tetronic acid, which can be detected by a diagnostic agent. This analytical method has been shown to have high specificity and sensitivity for cancer cells and hepatitis virus infected cells in wastewater treatment. Podophyllotoxin is also a chromatographic science that can be used for water vapor removal from soybean lipoxygenase.
