1,3-Dichloroisoquinoline is a chlorine-containing organic compound. It is a pale yellow solid that melts at 170°C. The reaction time is 3 hours and the yield is 92%. 1,3-Dichloroisoquinoline can be synthesized in two ways: by a nucleophilic substitution reaction of pyridine with chloroacetyl chloride or by the cross-coupling of 1,3-dibromopropane with lithium amide in the presence of palladium as catalyst. 1,3-Dichloroisoquinoline reacts with amines to form chloramines and it has been shown to have psychotherapeutic effects in rats.
