Description:Direct green 1 is a reactive dye that is used as a colorant in textiles, paper, and paints. It has been shown to adsorb to metal hydroxides such as iron oxides. Direct green 1 is also used as an additive in detergents and other household products. The dye has been shown to be thermally stable and resistant to fading caused by light or washing. Direct green 1 is soluble in water and will react with citric acid, forming a complex that can be cross-linked with polyvinyl alcohol. The dye may also polymerize through the addition of a basic dye like phenolphthalein or potassium carbonate.
