Product Information
Name:Di(ethylene glycol) dibenzoate
Synonyms:
- DEDB
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Diethylene glycol is a chemical compound that is used in the synthesis of polyvinyl alcohol. It is also used as a solvent for resins, paints, and lacquers. Diethylene glycol can be synthesized from ethylene oxide and benzoic acid. It has a neutralizing effect on acids and bases due to its phenol group. Diethylene glycol reacts with zirconium oxide to form diethyl fumarate, which is then reacted with dimethyl fumarate to produce di(ethylene glycol) dibenzoate. This reaction produces the desired product in high yield, which can then be purified by recrystallization or vacuum distillation.
