Description:

5,7-Dihydroindolo[2,3-b]carbazole is a natural product that has been shown to be an anti-cancer agent. It inhibits the growth of tumor cells by inducing apoptosis. 5,7-Dihydroindolo[2,3-b]carbazole has also been shown to inhibit the activity of human liver enzymes and is low in oral bioavailability. The compound has also been found to activate fluorescence in cells and tissues. This activation is due to the formation of singlet oxygen or excitons from the molecule's excited state. In addition, 5,7-Dihydroindolo[2,3-b]carbazole has been shown to have strong and selective binding properties for indolocarbazoles.
